Heidi had four years of art instruction with Canadian artist, Karl Kronlachner, and independent studies in Paris, France. Heidi also holds a PhD in German literature from the University of Waterloo.
After a career which includes running Galerie Berger for Canadian Native Art (Frankfurt and Hamburg, Germany) and teaching at the University of Waterloo, of Alberta, and of Calgary, she returned to creating art full-time.
Heidi has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Barbados, most recently at the Zemicon Gallery in Bridgetown, Barbados, March 2006. Her works have won awards in the USA (Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan) and Canada. She teaches workshops in Canada and Barbados. Her paintings are found in private and corporate collections in Canada, USA, Germany, Italy, England, South Africa and the Caribbean.
Her volunteer work includes involvement in the ’88 Olympics, Calgary (Co-ordinator of Chef de Mission Services), Lawrence House Centre for the Arts, Sarnia (founding committee and Vice-Chair), Gallery in the Grove, Sarnia (President), and HMP Glendairy, Barbados (art instructor).
She has lived and worked in Canada, France, Germany, Mexico. She and her husband now divide their time between their homes in Canada and Barbados.
