Chris Brandon has been creating artwork for five decades. Her commitment to her art practice is shown throughout the various series of delicate watercolours and acrylic paintings. The visual journey heightens the imagination to inner and outer realities.
Brandon is a Fine Art scholar who explores time and motion within her art and has created a thousand pieces. She believes there are four main areas that capture the essence of her work.
Line & Motion can be seen from her inspiration of the wind, water, sun and sky. Being within the landscape, she is able to sense movement and highlight the energy of the changing seasons from each line in her acrylic and watercolour representations.
Membranes allow a variety of multi-dimensional levels and inner space to be seen within a flat surface. Brandon feels these membranes can visually move the eye into the inner workings of multiple layers while expanding out into the universe.
The Land is a very important aspect of Brandon’s work. As she travelled by canoe throughout the northern landscape, she was able to capture the shorelines, spirits of the trees and rocks, and the day and night energies of the water and sky.
Chasing the Subconscious is a feeling Brandon tries to capture while following her creative imagination. Her visions flow automatically in her mind as she captures each setting. She feels the brush flows fluidly as each image begins to create itself.
